Eng. Abdulla Abdulaziz Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Board
As the Head of Mubadala Healthcare, Eng. Abdulla Abdulaziz Al Shamsi’s responsibilities are to oversee the investment, development, operations, and management of the healthcare assets and initiatives in Mubadala’s healthcare portfolio. Within the organization, he is also responsible for developing and managing Mubadala’s portfolio of world-class healthcare facilities in partnership with leading medical organizations.
Previously, Abdulla held the role of Chief Administrative Officer at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, where his portfolio spans both the operational and strategic divisions, leading high-impact, multi-stakeholder programs in line with the clinic’s long-term vision and strategy.
His strategic responsibilities included oversight of the Strategic Programs Office, Continuous Improvement teams, Business Intelligence and Strategy and Business Development. Abdulla has a Bachelors in Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University, a Masters in Architecture II from the University of Pennsylvania and a degree in Managing Healthcare Delivery from Harvard Business School.
He first joined Mubadala in 2008, eventually managing the development and growth of domestic and international real estate, infrastructure, and the hospitality portfolio, including the delivery and operation of Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi’s International free zone. Abdulla is proud to work in the healthcare field, where he can make a positive and tangible contribution to the community and nation.
Andy Fischer, M.D., Board Member
Andy Fischer, M.D., is a Member of the Board of Abu Dhabi Telemedicine Centre and a Member of the Board of Medgate AG which he founded in 1999 and for which he has served as CEO since. In addition, he is a Board Member of the Medgate Partner Network as well as Vice President of the Alliance for Liberal Healthcare Switzerland, founded in 2013 and Member of the Board of the Merian Iselin Foundation since 2014 (the Merian Iselin Clinic in Basel, Switzerland, provides comprehensive medical, nursing, and therapeutic services, specializing in orthopedic surgery).
Dr. Fischer has extensive experience in Telemedicine and is also a Founding and Executive Member of the Swiss Society for Telemedicine and eHealth, as well as President of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth.
Prior to his roles with Medgate, Dr. Fischer graduated from the School of Medicine at the University of Basel, Switzerland and wrote his thesis in experimental neurology while completing surgical training in Davos, Uster and Lucerne. He gained further experience in the field of anesthesia at the Cantonal Hospital of Basel.
He also served regularly as an emergency physician in the helicopter division of the Swiss emergency service (REGA).
Faisal Al Hammadi, Board Member
Al Hammadi is a Member of the Board of Abu Dhabi Telemedicine Centre as well as Vice President at Mubadala Healthcare. Since joining Mubadala in 2007, Faisal Al Hammadi has focused on activities in the healthcare sector, managing several of Mubadala’s world class healthcare facilities including Healthpoint, Wooridul Spine Centre and Capital Health Screening Centre. He has also served as a member of a number of Abu Dhabi Government initiatives and committees including the Executive Committee for the Abu Dhabi Economic Plan at the Department of Economic Development, and the Health Education Committee at Health Authority Abu Dhabi.
In addition to his role at Abu Dhabi Telemedicine Centre, Al Hammadi is serves as Mubadala’s appointed Asset Manager for Healthpoint, a fully integrated, primary and multi-specialty hospital in Abu Dhabi.
Al Hammadi holds a Master in Business Administration degree from Columbia Business School, USA, and a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the American University Dubai, UAE.
Chief Executive Officer
Fatima Rashid Al-Ali, Chief Executive Officer
Fatima Rashid Al-Ali is Chief Executive Officer at Abu Dhabi Telemedicine Centre. She is responsible for providing leadership in the overall administration, strategic planning and development of the Centre.
Al-Ali previously served as the Centre’s Operations Manager, responsible for overseeing operational improvements, supervising the workforce, and supporting business development efforts. She also led the establishment of the Centre’s Quality Committee.
Prior to joining Abu Dhabi Telemedicine Centre, Al-Ali spent four years at Mubadala Investment Company, managing operations for its healthcare asset Wooridul Spine Centre, and working on strategy, business development and finance projects for Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. At Mubadala, she served as Board Secretary to the Mubadala Healthcare Board of Directors, assisting Mubadala Healthcare assets in implementing corporate strategies.
Al-Ali holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the American University of Sharjah, UAE, majoring in Finance and graduating with a Magna Cum Laude distinction.
Dr. Sameera Al Obeidli, Medical Director
Dr. Sameera Al Obeidli is Medical Director at Abu Dhabi Telemedicine Centre. She is responsible for managing the full team of medical staff on-site at the Centre, to ensure clinical excellence. In addition, Dr. Al Obeidli practices as a General Practitioner, working with the Centre’s team of nurses and physicians to provide high quality medical consultations and compassionate patient care over the phone.
Prior to joining Abu Dhabi Telemedicine Centre, Dr. Al Obeidli worked at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City as Clinician in the Family Medicine Department. In April 2011, after six years in Family Medicine, Dr. Al Obeidli joined the Internal Medicine Department where she worked as Senior House Officer. In May of 2012, Dr. Al Obeidli joined Dar Al Shifaa Hospital’s Emergency Department, where she also oversaw a number of screening programs, which aimed to detect and treat conditions such as obesity, dyslipidemia, diabetes and hypertension.
Trained in Switzerland by the Swiss Centre for Telemedicine – Medgate, and practicing telemedicine in the UAE since 2014, Dr. Al Obeidli has become the region’s most senior practicing telemedicine professional. A multilingual communicator fluent in six languages, Dr. Al Obeidli frequently participates as a speaker and panel member at conferences, championing telemedicine and electronic health.
Dr. Al Obeidli holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from Ovidius University in Constanta, Romania. She completed her Internship through a number of rotations at Al Mafraq, Corniche, Al Jazeera, and Central Hospitals in Abu Dhabi.
